Suulutaaq has entered into a Small Business Administration mentor/protege agreement with URS Corporation. This agreement was approved by the on September 20th, 2004. URS Corporation adds depth and experience to Suulutaaq’s capabilities. URS as Suulutaaq’s Mentor, brings the capability of turn-key construction, which we believe is the future of contracting.

URS leads the industry in providing technical evaluations, planning, architectural, engineering, environmental and turn-key construction services, and offers the capabilities of over 65 professionals in Alaska, backed by over 700 regionally and 27,500 professionals worldwide. In serving the DoD, URS provides world-class service on some of the most time-sensitive and complex engineering challenges in the industry. URS’s standing is reflected in the Engineering News-Record (ENR) which ranked URS the “No. 1 Design Firm” for the fourth consecutive year. Most recently, ENR ranked URS the “No. 1 Global Firm” in summer 2004, affirming their unmatched depth and breadth of architectural and engineering services worldwide.

As a mentor URS will assist Suulutaaq in contracting with the Federal Government by providing assistance in planning, marketing, writing proposals, and contract performance. Suulutaaq will also benefit from access to URS‘s marketing network, office locations, 27,500 employees, and subcontracting opportunities. An additional benefits of operating under a SBA approved mentor/protege relationship is the ability of Suulutaaq and URS to create joint ventures to pursue contract opportunities and still be considered an 8(a) contractor. This benefit provides Suulutaaq with the opportunity to purpose on work that it otherwise, would not be able to do so.
