Olgoonik Point Airstrip - Completed 7/14/2007

Client: The Kuskokwim Corporation

Starting Date: 3/10/2004

Budget: $1.8 Million USD

Project Description: As you can see from the image, the airstrip is situated perpendicular to the point of a peninsula.  The direct challenge with this project was affordably delivering the 27 million tons of foundation boulders and 35 million tons of D1 gravel necessary to secure the airstrip against Alaska's harsh tidewaters and coastal erosion.  Another challenge was installing the runway without affecting local watershed flows which might have decreased the spawn rates of local wild salmon.  Suulutaaq finished the project without going over budget, with no damage to the enviroment, and 3 months ahead of schedule.
